I am ethnically a Russian Jew.  My quest began when I was 19 years old.  I was recovering from my stint with Scientology (yes I was brainwashed into it).<\/span><\/p>\r\n

My belief in God was uncertain.  My goals in life were to be a rock star.  I was living in my Pasadena apartment and working as a secretary.  Funny, I know.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

One night I was walking to the kitchen, and encountered a dark fellow.  I remembered asking him: “Can I keep this vodka in the fridge tonight?”  We shook hands and went to sleep.  After that point, my life changed drastically…<\/span><\/p>\r\n

This dark fellow, a Muslim, was the first Muslim I had ever met.  Extremely curious, I conversed with him about his faith.  What’s this stuff I hear about praying 5 times a day?  And about Holy War?  Who is this Mohammed guy?<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Our talks were accompanied by our Christian roommate, Wade.  Together, we created “The Jewish, Christian, and Muslim dialogue sessions”.  In it, we discovered many differences, and many commonalities.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

My interest had then shifted from sex, drugs, and parties, to a massive search for the truth.  A search that I had to complete.  A search for God.  And a search for how to follow him.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

In my quest for the truth, I asked myself: “Ok let’s start simple, how many God’s do I think are out there?”  I figured only one; knowing that a divided God is weaker than One God; figuring that if one God didn’t agree with the other, there might be arguments and feuds.  One God was my choice.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Once I opened up my mind to the possibility of the existence of God, I analyzed both atheist and theist beliefs.  The thing that directed me to the latter was the quote “Every design has a designer”.  With that in mind, eventually I woke up with certainty that God exists.  I can’t explain why, I just felt it somehow.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

This newfound excitement was accompanied by a sense of responsibility to follow the Creator.  The world of religion was my next frontier.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Then I asked myself, “Where do I start?”  There are literally thousands of them.  I need a way to narrow them down to a just a few.  How do I accomplish such a task?  “Find the ones that are monotheistic” entered my mind.  “Hey that makes sense, since I believe in only One God.”<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Ok, then.  This ruled out Buddhism and Hinduism, both being polytheistic faiths.  The major religions I encountered that fell under the title of Monotheistic, where Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.  Well since I’m a Jew, I started with Judaism.  One God, some prophets, 10 commandments, Torah, Jewish souls…uh, what: “Jewish souls?”<\/span><\/p>\r\n

While doing research this idea was brought to my attention.  The story goes, “if a person is born Jewish, then they have a Jewish soul, and they must follow Judaism.” Hold on a sec…that’s discrimination, isn’t it?  That’s not universal.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

So God makes Jewish souls, and Christian souls, and Muslim souls, and Hindu souls?  I thought all men are created equal?  So, because one is born into a religion that means by the decree of God he must remain in it… even if the person believes it to be false?  Hmm…I don’t agree with that.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Another thing really bothered me…there is no strict concept of hell in Judaism…then why be good?  Why not sin?  If I don’t have fear of strict punishment, then why should I be moral?<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Moving on, I discovered Christianity.  Ok, one God, a father, a son, and a holy ghost…one more time: one God, a father, a son, and a holy ghost.  Uhhh, please explain.  How can all those things be one God? 1 + 1 + 1 = 3 right?  So how can you say you believe in only one God?<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Explanation after explanation, equation after equation, comparison after comparison, analogy after analogy, I couldn’t grasp this concept.  Ok let’s keep looking here.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Ok, next major doctrine: Jesus died for our sins and he did this because we all are polluted with “Original Sin”.  So, Jesus Christ, the “son of God”, had to be murdered to save everyone from Hell and cure us of our sin “given” to us by Adam.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Ok then, so are you saying that we are all born as sinners?  And to sin is to do something wrong right?  Then you’re telling me that a one-year old baby is guilty of sin or doing something wrong?  Ok that’s strange, so based on the actions of one man, all of mankind must suffer?  What’s the moral of that story?  Punish the whole group if one deviates?  Why would God create such a rule? That’s just not in agreement with my logic.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

So Jesus died because he “loves mankind”.  Hold on, it says in the Bible that Jesus said “father, why have you forsaken me?”  So, apparently, Jesus didn’t understand why he was being brutally murdered.  But you just said he “volunteered” to be sacrificed.  Anyway, I couldn’t accept this belief.  Ok, what’s the next religion?<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Islam.  Islam means submission.  The main beliefs are as follows: One God, worship God five times a day, give 2.5% annual charity, fast during Ramadan (to be closer to God and appreciate life…among other reasons) and finally journey to Mecca for Hajj if you are able financially.  Ok, nothing hard to understand so far.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

There’s nothing that conflicts with my logic here.  The Quran is a book with all of these interesting miracles and timeless wisdom.  Many scientific facts only discovered recently where proclaimed 1400 years ago in this book.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Ok, Islam had passed my initial religious prerequisites.  But I wanted to ask some deep questions about it.  Is this religion universal?  Yes, anyone can understand these basic beliefs…no analogy or equation are needed.  Does it agree with science?  Yes, dozens of verses in the Quran agree with modern science and technology.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

As I sifted through the countless logical facts that I read through and researched, one thing took my attention the most.  “Islam”.  The name of this religion.  I noticed it is written many times in this Quran.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

However, recalling my prior studies, I didn’t remember once seeing the word “Judaism” in the Old Testament or “Christianity” in the New Testament.  This was BIG.  Why couldn’t I find the very name of the religions in those two books?  Because, there is no name in these books!  Thinking…I noticed that “Judaism” could be broken down to “Juda- ism” and “Christianity” could be respectively “Christ-ianity”.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

So who is Juda?  Or Judah, rather.  He was the tribe leader of the Hebrews when God revealed his message to mankind.  So this religion was named after…a person.  Ok let’s look at who Christ is.  He was the person who delivered the message of God to the Jews.  So this religion was named after…a person.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

So in recollection, we can deduct that the names of these religions are people’s proper names attached to “ism” and “ianity”.  Regardless of that fact, the very names of those religions are not mentioned in their scriptures.  I thought that was very odd.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

If I went door to door selling a product, and I said “Would you like to buy this _______”?  Wouldn’t the logical question be: “What is this _____ called?”  I would make no money off of a product without a name.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Naming is the very basis which humans identify with objects, both physical and non-physical.  If religion is supposed to be practiced and spread to every person on earth, shouldn’t there be a NAME for it?<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Moreover, shouldn’t the name be given to us from God Almighty?  YES, my point exactly.  The names “Christianity” and “Judaism” were not written in the Holy Scriptures.  Humans named them, not God.  The notion that God would ordain a religion for mankind to follow without a name is impossible for my mind to accept.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

At that point, both Christianity and Judaism lost their credibility as pure, logical, and complete religions, at least from my perspective.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Islam is the ONLY of these religions to include the NAME of the religion in its scriptures.  This is so huge for me.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

I realized I would follow Islam at that point.  I then became a Muslim.  I knew the truth.  I was out of the darkness.  I came into the light…<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Étnicamente, soy un judío ruso. Mi búsqueda comenzó cuando tenía 19 años de edad. Me estaba recuperando de mi experiencia con la Cienciología (sí, me habían lavado el cerebro).<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Mi creencia en Dios era incierta. Mi objetivo en la vida era ser una estrella de rock. Vivía en un apartamento en Pasadena y trabajaba como secretario. Curioso, lo sé.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Una noche, caminaba hacia la cocina y me encontré un amigo negro. Recuerdo haberle preguntado: “¿Puedo dejar este vodka en la nevera esta noche?” Chocamos las manos y me fui a dormir. Desde ese momento, mi vida cambió drásticamente…<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Este amigo negro, un musulmán, fue el primer musulmán que jamás conocí. Muy curioso, conversé con él sobre su fe. ¿Qué es eso que escuché sobre rezar cinco veces al día? ¿Y cómo es eso de la Guerra Santa? ¿Quién es ese Muhámmad?<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Nuestras conversaciones fueron acompañadas por nuestro compañero cristiano de cuarto, Wade. Juntos creamos las “sesiones de diálogo judío, cristiano y musulmán.” Allí, descubrimos muchas diferencias y muchas similitudes.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Mi interés había pasado de las drogas, el sexo y las fiestas, a una búsqueda intensa de la verdad. Una búsqueda que tenía que completar. Una búsqueda de Dios. Y una búsqueda de cómo seguirlo a Él.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

En mi búsqueda de la verdad, me pregunté a mí mismo: “Está bien, comencemos por lo simple, ¿cuántos dioses creo que existen?” Pensé que uno solo, sabiendo que un Dios dividido es más débil que Un Dios Único, pues pensé que si un dios no estaba de acuerdo con otro, habría discusiones y peleas. Un solo Dios fue mi elección.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Una vez abrí mi mente a la posibilidad de la existencia de Dios, analicé las creencias ateas y teístas. El asunto que me llevó hacia las últimas, fue la cita: “Todo diseño tiene un diseñador.” Con eso en mente, eventualmente desperté con la certeza de que Dios existe. No puedo explicar por qué, sólo lo sentía de alguna manera.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Este nuevo hallazgo excitante fue acompañado de una sensación de responsabilidad por seguir al Creador. El mundo de la religión era mi próxima frontera.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Entonces me pregunté: “¿Dónde comienzo?” Hay literalmente miles de ellas. Necesitaba una forma de reducirlas a sólo unas cuantas. ¿Cómo realizar esa tarea? “Fíjate en las que son monoteístas,” pensé. “Bien, eso tiene sentido, ya que creo en un solo Dios.”<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Así que el budismo y el hinduismo quedaron fuera, por ser creencias politeístas. Las grandes religiones que encontré como monoteístas fueron el Judaísmo, el Cristianismo y el Islam. Y ya que soy judío, comencé por el Judaísmo. Un Dios, algunos profetas, 10 mandamientos, la Tora, las almas judías… “¿Qué? ¿Almas judías?”<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Mientras investigaba, esta idea llamó mi atención. La historia dice: “Si alguien nace judío, entonces tiene alma judía, y debe seguir el judaísmo.” Un momento, eso es discriminación, ¿no? Eso no es universal.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

¿Entonces, Dios hijo almas judías, almas cristianas, almas musulmanas y almas hindúes? Yo creía que todos los hombres eran creados iguales. Entonces, ¿si uno nace en una religión, significa que debe permanecer en ella por decreto de Dios, aún si la creencia de la persona es falsa? No estoy de acuerdo con eso.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Otra cosa que realmente me molestó es que no hay un concepto estricto de infierno en el Judaísmo. Entonces, ¿para qué ser bueno? ¿Por qué no pecar? Si no temo un castigo, ¿para qué tener moral?<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Pasando a la siguiente, descubrí el Cristianismo. Bien, un Dios, un padre, un hijo y un espíritu santo. De nuevo: un Dios, un padre, un hijo y un espíritu santo. Por favor, explíquenme. ¿Cómo puede todo eso ser un solo Dios? 1 + 1 + 1 = 3, ¿verdad? Entonces, ¿cómo puedes decir que crees en un solo Dios?<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Explicación tras explicación, ecuación tras ecuación, comparación tras comparación, analogía tras analogía, no pude entender este concepto. Bueno, vamos a seguir mirando aquí.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

La siguiente doctrina principal: Jesús murió por nuestros pecados e hizo esto porque todos estamos contaminados con un “Pecado Original.” Así que Jesucristo, el “hijo de Dios” tenía que ser asesinado para salvarnos a todos del infierno y curarnos de nuestro pecado, “heredado” a nosotros por Adán.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Bien, entonces, ¿lo que me estás diciendo es que todos nacemos en pecado? Y pecar es hacer algo malo, ¿verdad? Entonces, ¿me dices que un bebé de un año de edad es culpable de pecar o de hacer algo malo? Pues eso es extraño, ¿entonces toda la humanidad debe sufrir por los actos de un solo hombre? ¿Cuál es la moraleja de esa historia? ¿Castigar a todo el grupo si uno se desvía? ¿Por qué Dios creó semejante norma? Eso no va de acuerdo a mi lógica.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Así que Jesús murió porque “ama a la humanidad.” Espera, en la Biblia dice que Jesús dijo: “Padre, ¿por qué me has abandonado?” Así que, aparentemente, Jesús no entendía por qué había sido brutalmente asesinado. Pero dices que él se sacrificó “voluntariamente.” En cualquier caso, no puedo aceptar esta creencia. Bien, ¿qué religión sigue?<\/span><\/p>\r\n

El Islam.  Islam significa sumisión. La creencia principal es la siguiente: Un Dios, adorar a Dios cinco veces al día, dar el 2.5% anual para caridad, ayunar durante Ramadán (para acercarse a Dios y apreciar la vida, entre otras razones), y finalmente, viajar a La Meca para hacer el Hayy si estás en capacidad financiera. Bien, nada difícil de entender hasta ahora.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

No hay nada allí que vaya en contra de mi lógica. El Corán es un libro con todos estos milagros interesantes y sabiduría intemporal. Muchos hechos científicos descubiertos sólo recientemente fueron proclamados hace 1.400 años en este libro.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Bueno, el Islam ha pasado mis prerrequisitos religiosos iniciales. Pero quiero hacer preguntas más profundas sobre él. ¿Es una religión universal? Sí, cualquiera puede entender estas creencias básicas, no hay necesidad de analogía ni ecuación alguna. ¿Está acorde con la ciencia? Sí, docenas de versículos coránicos están de acuerdo con la ciencia y la tecnología modernas.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Tras hurgar en los incontables hechos lógicos que leí e investigué, lo que más me llamó la atención fue: “Islam.” El nombre de esta religión. Me di cuenta que está escrito muchas veces en este Corán.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Sin embargo, repasando mis estudios anteriores, no recuerdo haber visto una sola vez la palabra “Judaísmo” en el Antiguo Testamento ni la palabra “Cristianismo” en el Nuevo Testamento. Esto es enorme. ¿Por qué no puedo encontrar el mismísimo nombre de las religiones en estos dos libros? ¡Porque no hay un nombre en estos libros! Pensando, me di cuenta que “Judaísmo” puede dividirse en “Juda – ismo” y “Cristianismo” en “Crist – ianismo.”<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Así que, ¿quién es Juda?  O Judah. Él era el líder de la tribu de los hebreos cuando Dios revelo Su mensaje a la humanidad. De modo que esta religión fue nombrada por una persona. Bien, ahora veamos quién es Cristo. Fue la persona que entregó el mensaje de Dios a los judíos. Así que esta religió fue nombrada por una persona.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

En resumen, podemos deducir que los nombres de estas religiones son nombres propios de personas a los que se les agregó el “ismo”. Independientemente este hecho, los nombres propios de esas religiones no son mencionados en sus propias escrituras. Esto me pareció muy extraño.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Si fuera de puerta en puerta vendiendo un producto y dijera: “¿Quisiera comprar este ____”?, ¿no sería lógico preguntar: “Cómo se llama este ____?” No haría dinero con un producto sin nombre.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Nombrar es lo más básico para que los humanos identifiquemos objetos, tanto físicos como no físicos. Si se supone que una religión sea practicada y divulgada a toda persona en la Tierra, ¿no debería tener un NOMBRE?<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Por otra parte, ¿no debería ser Dios Todopoderoso quien nombrara la religión? SÍ, ese es mi punto. Los nombres “Cristianismo” y “Judaísmo” no fueron escritos en las Sagradas Escrituras. Los humanos les pusieron nombre, no Dios. La noción de que Dios ordenara una religión para que la siguiera la humanidad, sin darle un nombre, es algo que mi mente no puede aceptar.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

En ese punto, el Cristianismo y el Judaísmo perdieron su credibilidad como religiones puras, lógicas y completas, al menos desde mi perspectiva.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

El Islam es la ÚNICA de estas religiones que incluye un NOMBRE de la religión en sus escrituras. Eso es muy importante para mí.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

En ese momento me di cuenta que seguiría el Islam. Entonces me convertí en musulmán. Supe la verdad. Estaba fuera de la oscuridad. Entré a la luz…<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Ethniquement, je suis ce qu’on appelle un juif russe.  Ma quête de vérité débuta à l’âge de 19 ans, alors que je reprenais mes esprits suite à un séjour chez les scientologues (oui, ils m’avaient lavé le cerveau!).<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Ma foi en Dieu était incertaine.  Mon but dans la vie?  Devenir une rock star…  Je vivais en pension à Pasadena et travaillait comme secrétaire.  Oui, je sais, je vous vois sourire…<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Un soir, comme je me rendais à la cuisine commune, je croisai un type à la peau basanée.  Je me souviens lui avoir demandé : « C’est ok si je laisse cette vodka dans le frigo pour la nuit? ».  Nous échangeâmes ensuite une poignée de main et retournâmes chacun nous coucher.  À partir de ce jour, ma vie changea drastiquement.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Ce type, un musulman, était le premier musulman que je rencontrais de ma vie.  Très curieux, lorsque je le revis, je lui posai des questions sur sa religion.  Était-il vrai qu’il devait prier cinq fois par jour?  Et qu’était-ce que la guerre sainte?  Et qui était Mohammed?<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Mon co-chambreur chrétien, Wade, se joignit à notre discussion.  Ensemble, nous créâmes « les séances de discussion entre un juif, un chrétien et un musulman ».  Nous découvrîmes que nous avions plusieurs points en commun, mais, également, que de grandes différences nous divisaient.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Tout à coup, mon intérêt principal, dans la vie, passa des beuveries et des soirées dans les boîtes de nuit à une quête de vérité effrénée, une quête que j’avais absolument besoin de mener jusqu’au bout. <\/span><\/p>\r\n

Dans cette quête de vérité, je me posai cette question : « Ok, commençons par le plus simple : combien de Dieu existent, à mon avis? »  Je me dis qu’il devait n’en exister qu’un, car je trouvais qu’une divinité divisée devait nécessairement être plus faible qu’une divinité unique.  J’arrêtai donc mon choix sur un Dieu unique.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Une fois que j’eus ouvert mon esprit à la possibilité de l’existence d’un Dieu unique, j’analysai les croyances théistes et athées.  Ce qui me fit pencher pour les premières est la phrase : « Tout dessein a un dessinateur ».  Cette affirmation m’amena à accepter entièrement l’idée d’un Dieu unique.  Je ne peux expliquer pourquoi, mais ma raison et mon cœur me disaient tous deux que j’étais dans la bonne voie.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

L’excitation d’avoir enfin trouvé un point de départ solide à ma quête s’accompagna d’un désir profond de suivre mon Créateur, d’obéir à Ses commandements.  J’allais donc découvrir le monde des religions.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Mais par où commencer?  Il y a tant de religions!  Comment choisir les plus importantes?  Je me dis qu’il me fallait, évidemment, choisir les religions monothéistes.  Ce qui excluait le bouddhisme et l’hindouisme.  Les seules grandes religions considérées comme monothéistes, je m’en rendis compte, sont le judaïsme, le christianisme et l’islam.  Et, comme je suis juif, du moins d’un point de vue ethnique, je commençai par le judaïsme.  Un seul Dieu, quelques prophètes, dix commandements, la Torah, les âmes juives… euh, quelles « âmes juives »?<\/span><\/p>\r\n

En faisant mes recherches, je trouvai cette idée à laquelle certains juifs croient dur comme fer : si une personne est née juive, alors elle possède une âme juive.  Elle doit donc suivre le judaïsme. »  Euh, peut-être, mais dans mon livre à moi, ce n’est ni plus ni moins que de la discrimination.  Et il se trouve qu’à mon avis, une religion se doit d’être universelle.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Ainsi, Dieu créerait des âmes juives, des âmes chrétiennes, des âmes musulmanes et des âmes hindoues?  Je croyais pourtant que tous les êtres humains étaient créés égaux.  Et que même si l’on naît au sein d’une religion, si elle s’avère fausse, il nous est tout à fait possible d’en embrasser une autre, que l’on croit vraie.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Une autre chose qui m’agaçait, avec le judaïsme, c’est qu’on n’y retrouve pas de concept clair de l’Enfer.  Pourquoi, alors, s’évertuer à être bon?  Pourquoi éviter de commettre des péchés?  Si je ne crains aucun châtiment sévère, quel est mon incitatif à bien me comporter?<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Ensuite, je partis à la découverte du christianisme.  Un Dieu, qui est en fait un Père, un Fils et le Saint-Esprit…  Prière de bien vouloir m’expliquer comment tout cela équivaut à un Dieu?  1 + 1 + 1 = 3, n’est-ce pas?  Comment le christianisme peut-il donc être considéré comme une religion monothéiste?<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Explication après explication, équation après équation, comparaison après comparaison, analogie après analogie, rien ne me fit saisir ce concept.  Bon, passons tout de même à  la deuxième grande doctrine de cette religion : Jésus est mort pour nous laver de nos péchés parce que nous sommes tous entachés par le « péché originel ».  Ainsi donc, Jésus, le « fils » de Dieu, a dû mourir, assassiné, sur une croix, afin de nous sauver tous de l’Enfer et de nous libérer du péché originel que nous ont transmis Adam et Ève.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Sommes-nous donc tous nés pécheurs?  Et nous sommes d’accord que commettre un péché équivaut à faire quelque chose de mal, n’est-ce pas?  Alors vous me dites que, par exemple, un bébé d’un an est coupable de péché ou d’une mauvaise action?  Et qu’à cause des actions d’un seul homme, Adam, toute l’humanité doit souffrir?  Quelle est la morale de cette histoire?  Punir tout un groupe si un de ses membres dévie de la bonne voie?  Pourquoi Dieu inventerait-Il une telle règle?  Cela va à l’encontre de toute logique.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Si je comprends bien, Jésus est mort parce qu’il « aimait l’humanité »?  Mais n’est-il pas écrit, dans l’évangile, que Jésus a dit : « Mon père, pourquoi m’as-Tu abandonné? »  Autrement dit, Jésus ne comprenait pas pourquoi il était cruellement assassiné.  Et vous me dites qu’il s’est porté volontaire pour être sacrifié?  Bon, quelle est la prochaine religion?  À la suivante!<\/span><\/p>\r\n

L’islam.  L’islam signifie la paix, la soumission.  Ses principaux piliers : l’unicité de Dieu, la prière cinq fois par jour, la zakat (2.5% de charité annuelle obligatoire), le jeûne du ramadan et le pèlerinage à la Mecque (hajj), une fois dans la vie, si c’est financièrement possible.  Bon, rien de difficile à comprendre jusque-là, rien qui ne défie ma logique.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Le Coran est un livre contenant plusieurs miracles et de grandes leçons de sagesse.  De nombreux faits scientifiques, qui ne furent découverts que récemment, sont mentionnés dans les versets coraniques.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Bon, l’islam passait le test de mes prérequis en matière de religion.  Mais j’avais plusieurs questions à son sujet.  Était-ce une religion universelle?  Oui, car n’importe qui pouvait comprendre ses croyances de base, sans qu’il fût besoin d’avoir recours à des analogies, des équations ou des comparaisons bidons.  Cette religion était-elle en accord avec la science?  Oui, des dizaines de versets coraniques relatent des faits qui sont parfaitement en accord avec la science moderne et la technologie.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Comme je passais en revue les diverses informations sur cette religion, une chose attira mon attention : le mot « islam ».  Je remarquai qu’il était écrit plusieurs fois, dans le Coran.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Et, me souvenant de mes recherches sur les autres religions, je réalisai que je n’avais jamais vu le mot « judaïsme » dans la Torah ni le mot « christianisme » dans le Nouveau-Testament.  Voilà qui était fort intéressant!  Pourquoi les noms de ces religions ne se trouvaient-ils pas dans leurs propres livres?<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Si l’on prend le terme « juda-isme » : qui donc était Judée?  C’était le leader des Hébreux au moment où Dieu leur révéla Son message.  Alors cette religion fut nommée en mémoire d’une… personne.  Et qui était le Christ?  C’est celui qui transmit le message de Dieu aux juifs.  Alors cette religion fut, elle aussi, nommée en mémoire d’une personne.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Les noms sont des outils utilisés par les êtres humains pour nommer des choses et des concepts.  Si une religion est censée être pratiquée par l’humanité tout entière, ne devrait-elle pas posséder un nom qui lui soit propre?<\/span><\/p>\r\n

De plus, ce nom ne devrait-il pas provenir de Dieu Lui-même plutôt que d’êtres humains?  L’idée selon laquelle Dieu ordonnerait aux hommes de suivre une religion sans toutefois lui donner de nom m’est impossible à concevoir.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Après étude des trois grandes religions, donc, le christianisme et le judaïsme perdirent leur crédibilité, à mes yeux.  Et le fait que l’islam était la seule religion nommée par Dieu et dont le nom se trouve à même ses écritures constituait, pour moi, une preuve irréfutable de la pureté et du caractère véridique de cette religion.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Je décidai donc de devenir musulman.  Je connaissais maintenant la vérité.  Je pouvais enfin sortir des ténèbres, pour entrer dans la lumière…<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Ich bin ethnisch ein russischer Jude.  Meine Suche begann, als ich 19 Jahre alt war.  Ich erholte mich gerade von meiner Arbeit mit Scientology (ja, sie haben eine Gehirnwäsche bei mit gemacht).<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Mein Glaube an Gott war unsicher.  Meine Ziele im Leben waren, ein Rockstar zu werden.  Ich lebte in meinem Pasadena Apartment und arbeitete als Sekretär.  Lustig, ich weiß. <\/span><\/p>\r\n

Eines Abends ging ich zur Küche und traf einen dunkelhäutigen Mitbewohner.  Ich erinnere mich daran, dass ich ihn fragte: „Kann ich diesen Wodka heute Nacht im Kühlschrank lassen?“  Wir schüttelten die Hände und gingen schlafen.  Nach diesem Punkt veränderte sich mein Leben drastisch…<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Dieser dunkelhäutige Mitbewohner, ein Muslim, war der erste Muslim, dem ich je begegnet bin.  Überaus neugierig befragte ich ihn über seinen Glauben.  Was war das, was ich da von 5 Gebeten am Tag hörte?  Und über den Heiligen Krieg?  Wer war dieser Typ, Muhammad? <\/span><\/p>\r\n

Unsere Gespräche wurden von unserem christlichen Zimmergenossen, Wade, begleitet.  Zusammen schufen wir „Die jüdisch, christlichen und muslimischen Dialogsitzungen”.  In ihnen entdeckten wir viele Unterschiede und viele Ähnlichkeiten.  <\/span><\/p>\r\n

Mein Interesse driftete von Sex, Drogen und Partys ab zu einer massive Suche nach der Wahrheit.  Eine Suche, die ich vervollständigen musste.  Eine Suche nach Gott.  Und eine Suche danach, wie Ihm zu folgen ist. <\/span><\/p>\r\n

In meiner Suche nach der Wahrheit fragte ich mich selbst: “Ok, lass uns einfach beginnen, wie viele Götter meinst du gibt es da draußen?”  Ich schätzte, es gab nur Einen Gott; ich wusste, dass ein geteilter Gott schwächer sei als Ein Gott; ich dachte, dass falls ein Gott nicht mit den anderen einverstanden ist, würde es Streit und Fehden geben.  Ein Gott war meine Wahl.    <\/span><\/p>\r\n

Sobald ich meinen Verstand für die Möglichkeit der Existenz eines Gottes geöffnet hatte, analysierte ich sowohl atheistische und theistische Glaubenssysteme.  Die Sache, die mich zu den letzteren hin zog, war die Aussage: “Jedes Design hat einen Designer.“  Dieser Gedanke gab mir schließlich eine Gewissheit, dass Gott existiert.  Ich kann nicht erklären, warum. Ich fühlte es einfach irgendwie. <\/span><\/p>\r\n

Diese neu gefundene Spannung wurde von einem Sinn für Verantwortlichkeit diesem Schöpfer zu folgen begleitet.  Die Welt der Religion war meine nächste Grenze.    <\/span><\/p>\r\n

Dann fragte ich mich selbst: “Wo beginne ich?”  Es gibt buchstäblich Tausende von ihnen.  Ich brauchte einen Weg, um sie auf einige zu reduzieren.  Wie konnte ich das erreichen?  “Finde die monotheistischen heraus”, kam mir in den Kopf.  “Hey, das ergibt einen Sinn, denn ich glaube ja nur an Einen Gott.   <\/span><\/p>\r\n

Ok, also.  Dies schloss den Buddhismus und den Hinduismus als polytheistischen Glauben schon mal aus.  Die Hauptreligionen, die unter den Titel monotheistisch fielen, waren Judentum, Christentum und Islam.  Nun, weil ich Jude war, fing ich mit dem Judentum an.  Ein Gott, einige Propheten, zehn Gebote, Thora, jüdische Seelen…  uh, was ist das: „jüdische Seelen?“ <\/span><\/p>\r\n

Während ich meine Nachforschungen anstellte, erweckte diese Vorstellung meine Aufmerksamkeit.  Die Geschichte geht so: „Wenn eine Person jüdisch geboren wird, dann hat sie eine jüdische Seele und sie muss dem Judentum folgen.”  Warte eine Sekunde… das ist Diskriminierung, oder?  Das ist nicht universal.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Also macht Gott jüdische Seelen und christliche Seelen und muslimische Seelen und hinduistische Seelen?  Ich dachte, alle Menschen wurden gleich geschaffen?  Dass also einer in eine Religion hinein geboren wurde, bedeutet bei der Bestimmung Gottes, er muss darin bleiben…auch wenn die Person glaubt, dass es falsch ist?  Hmm…dem kann ich nicht zustimmen.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Eine andere Sache beschäftigte mich… es gibt kein striktes Konzept von der Hölle im Judentum... warum also sollte man gut sein?  Warum nicht sündigen?  Wenn ich keine strenge Bestrafung zu befürchten habe, warum sollte ich dann gesittet sein?  <\/span><\/p>\r\n

Ich fuhr fort, ich entdeckte das Christentum.  Ok, ein Gott, ein Vater, ein Sohn und ein Heiliger Geist… noch einmal: ein Gott, ein Vater, ein Sohn und ein Heiliger Geist.   Uhhh, erkläre mir das bitte.  Wie können alle diese Dinge ein Gott sein?  1 + 1 + 1 = 3 richtig?  Wie also kannst du behaupten, du glaubst nur an einen Gott? <\/span><\/p>\r\n

Erklärung nach Erklärung, Gleichung über Gleichung, Vergleich nach Vergleich, Analogie nach Analogie; ich konnte dieses Konzept nicht begreifen.  Ok, lass uns weiter schauen.     <\/span><\/p>\r\n

Ok, nächste Hauptdoktrin: Jesus starb für unsere Sünden, und er starb, weil wir durch die „Erbsünde“ beschmutzt sind.  Daher musste Jesus Christus, der “Sohn Gottes” ermordet werden, um jeden vor der Hölle zu bewahren und um uns von unserer Sünde zu heilen, die Adam uns “gegeben” hat.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Ok, also sagst du, wir wurden alle als Sünder geboren?  Und zu sündigen bedeutet, etwas Falsches zu tun?  Dann willst du mir weismachen, dass ein einjähriges Baby schuldig für eine Sünde ist, oder dafür, etwas Falsches getan zu haben?  Ok, das ist seltsam, aufgrund der Taten eines einzigen Menschen muss die gesamte Menschheit leiden?  Was ist die Moral von der Geschichte?  Die ganze Gruppe zu bestrafen, wenn einer abweicht?  Warum sollte Gott eine solche Regel aufstellen?  Das passt einfach nicht in meine Logik.   <\/span><\/p>\r\n

Also Jesus starb, weil er “die Menschheit liebte”.  Warte kurz.  In der Bibel wird gesagt, dass Jesus sagte: „Vater, warum hast du mich verlassen?“  Also hat Jesus offensichtlich nicht verstanden, warum er so brutal ermordet wurde.  Aber du hast gerade gesagt, er „habe sich freiwillig“ geopfert.  Jedenfalls konnte ich diesen Glauben nicht akzeptieren.  Ok, welche ist die nächste Religion?    <\/span><\/p>\r\n

Islam.  Islam bedeutet Hingabe.  Die Hauptglaubenssätze sind folgende: Ein Gott, Gott fünfmal am Tag anbeten, 2.5% jährliches Almosen abgeben, im Ramadhan fasten (um Gott näher zu kommen und um das Leben zu würdigen… unter anderen Gründen) und schließlich die Reise nach Mekka zum Hajj, wenn du dazu finanziell in der Lage bist.  Ok, nichts schlimmes, soweit ich bis jetzt verstehe. <\/span><\/p>\r\n

Es gibt nichts, das meiner Logik hier widerspricht.  Der Qur´an ist ein Buch mit allen diesen interessanten Wundern und zeitloser Weisheit.  Viele wissenschaftliche Fakten wurden erst vor kurzem entdeckt, die bereits vor 1400 Jahren in diesem Buch verkündet wurden. <\/span><\/p>\r\n

Ok, der Islam hatte meine Eingangsvoraussetzungen erfüllt.  Doch wollte ich einige tiefe Fragen darüber stellen.  Ist diese Religion universell?  Ja, jeder kann diese Grundzüge verstehen… keine Analogie und keine Gleichnisse werden benötigt.  Stimmt sie mit der Wissenschaft überein?  Ja, dutzende Verse im Qur´an stimmen mit moderner Wissenschaft und Technologie überein. <\/span><\/p>\r\n

Als ich die zahllosen logischen Fakten durchging, über die ich las und nachforschte, hat eine Sache am meisten meine Aufmerksamkeit geweckt.  “Islam”.  Der Name dieser Religion.  Ich bemerkte, er steht viele Male in diesem Qur´an geschrieben. <\/span><\/p>\r\n

Allerdings, wenn ich mich an meine vorangegangenen Studien zurück erinnere, kann ich mich nicht entsinnen, auch nur einmal das Wort „Judentum“ im Alten Testament oder „Christentum“ im Neuen Testament gesehen zu haben.  Dies war GROSS.  Warum konnte ich den Namen dieser Religionen nicht in diesen beiden Büchern finden?  Weil es in diesen Büchern keinen Namen gab!  Ich dachte nach… ich bemerkte, dass “Judaism” in “Juda- ism” und “Christianity” dem entsprechend in “Christ-ianity” zerbrochen werden kann.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Wer ist also Juda?  Oder eher Judah.  Er war der Stammesführer der Hebräer, als Gott seine Botschaft der Menschheit mitteilte.  Daher wurde diese Religion nach einer…Person benannt.  Ok, schauen wir, wer Christ ist.  Er war die Person, die die Botschaft Gottes an die Juden übermittelt hat.  Also wurde diese Religion nach einer … Person benannt.    <\/span><\/p>\r\n

Also in Rückbesinnung können wir sagen, dass die Namen dieser Religionen Namen von Personen waren, an die die Endung “ism” und “ianity” (im Englischen oder „en-tum“ im Deutschen) angehängt wurde.  Ungeachtet der Tatsache, dass die Namen jener Religionen nicht in ihren Schriften erwähnt wurden.  Ich fand das sehr komisch.   <\/span><\/p>\r\n

Wenn ich von Tür zu Tür gehen würde, um ein Produkt zu verkaufen, und sagte: “Möchtest du vielleicht dieses _______kaufen”?  Wäre nicht die logische Frage: “Wie wird dieses _____ genannt?”  Ich würde kein Geld verdienen mit einem Produkt ohne Namen.  <\/span><\/p>\r\n

Die Namensgebung ist etwas sehr grundsätzliches, mit dem Menschen Objekte identifizieren, seien es physikalische und nicht-physikalische.  Wenn Religion praktiziert und zu jedem Menschen auf der Erde verbreitet werden soll, sollte es dann nicht einen NAMEN für sie geben? <\/span><\/p>\r\n

Außerdem sollte der Name uns nicht von Gott, dem Allmächtigen, gegeben worden sein?  JA, genau mein Punkt.  Die Namen „Christentum“ und „Judentum“ wurden in den Heiligen Schriften nicht erwähnt.  Menschen haben sie so genannt, nicht Gott.  Die Bemerkung, dass Gott eine Religion für die Menschheit zu folgen bestimmt hat ohne einen Namen, kann ich mit meinem Verstand nicht akzeptieren.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

An dieser Stelle haben sowohl das Christentum als auch das Judentum ihre Glaubwürdigkeit als reine, logische und vollständige Religionen verloren; zumindest aus meiner Perspektive.    <\/span><\/p>\r\n

Der Islam ist die EINZIGE dieser Religionen, deren NAME in ihrer Schrift vorhanden ist.  Dies ist etwas so Großes für mich.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Mir wurde klar, dass ich dem Islam in diesem Punkt folgen würde, dann wurde ich Muslim.  Ich kannte die Wahrheit.  Ich war aus der Dunkelheit heraus gekommen, ich kam in das Licht… <\/span><\/p>\r\n

Etnicamente sou um judeu russo.  Minha busca começou quando estava com 19 anos.  Estava me recuperando de minha passagem pela Cientologia (sim, sofri lavagem cerebral para entrar).<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Minha crença em Deus era incerta.  Meus objetivos na vida eram ser uma estrela do rock.  Vivia em meu apartamento em Pasadena e trabalhava como secretário.  É engraçado, eu sei.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Uma noite estava caminhando para a cozinha e encontrei um camarada de cor escura.  Lembro-me de lhe perguntar: “Posso colocar essa vodca no congelador esta noite?”  Apertamos as mãos e fomos dormir.  Depois daquele ponto, minha vida mudou drasticamente...<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Esse camarada de cor escura, um muçulmano, foi o primeiro que encontrei na vida.  Extremamente curioso, conversei com ele sobre sua crença.  Que negócio é esse que ouvi sobre orar 5 vezes ao dia?  E sobre Guerra Santa?  Quem é esse Mohammed?<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Nossas conversas eram acompanhadas por nosso colega de quarto cristão, Wade.  Juntos, criamos “as sessões de diálogo judaico, cristão e muçulmano”.  Nelas descobrimos muitas diferenças e muitas coisas em comum.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Meu interesse tinha mudado de sexo, drogas e festas para uma busca maciça pela verdade.  Uma busca que tinha que completar.  Uma busca por Deus.  E uma busca por como segui-Lo.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Em minha busca pela verdade, perguntei a mim mesmo: “Ok, vamos começar de maneira simples: quantos deuses você acha que existem?”  Pensei que apenas um; sabia que um Deus dividido é mais fraco que um Deus Único, pensando que se um Deus não concordasse com o outro, podia haver argumentos e feudos.  Um Deus foi minha escolha.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Uma vez que abri minha mente para a possibilidade da existência de Deus, analisei as crenças ateístas e teístas.  O que me direcionava para a segunda era a citação “Todo projeto tem um projetista”.  Com isso em mente, finalmente acordei com a certeza de que Deus existe.  Não posso explicar por que. Apenas senti isso de alguma forma.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Essa excitação recém-encontrada foi acompanhada por um senso de responsabilidade de seguir o Criador.  O mundo da religião era minha próxima fronteira.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Então perguntei a mim mesmo: “Onde começo?”  Existem literalmente milhares delas.  Preciso de uma forma para restringir para apenas algumas.  Como realizo essa tarefa?  “Encontre as que são monoteístas” entrou em minha mente.  “Hei, faz sentido, já que acredito em somente um Deus.”<\/span><\/p>\r\n

OK, então.  Isso descartou o Budismo e o Hinduísmo, já que ambas são crenças politeístas.  As grandes religiões que se encaixavam no título de monoteístas eram o Judaísmo, o Cristianismo e o Islã.  Já que nasci judeu, comecei pelo Judaísmo.  Um Deus, alguns profetas, 10 mandamentos, Torá, almas judaicas... hummm..., o que? “Almas judaicas?”<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Enquanto fazia a pesquisa essa ideia me chamou a atenção.  A história prossegue: “se uma pessoa nasce judia, então tem uma alma judaica e deve seguir o Judaísmo.” Espere um minuto... isso é discriminação, não é?  Não é universal.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Então Deus faz almas judaicas, almas cristãs, almas muçulmanas e almas hindus?  Pensei que todos os homens fossem criados iguais.  Então, porque nasci em uma religião isso significa que por decreto de Deus devo permanecer nela... mesmo se a pessoa acreditar que seja falsa?  Hummm.. não concordo com isso.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Outra coisa que realmente me incomodou... não há conceito estrito de inferno no Judaísmo... então, por que ser bom?  Por que não pecar?  Se não temo punição severa, então por que deve ter moral?<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Seguindo em frente, descobri o Cristianismo.  Ok, um Deus, um pai, um filho e um espírito santo... mais uma vez: um Deus, um pai, um filho e um espírito santo.  Uh, por favor explique.  Como todas essas coisas podem ser um Deus? 1 + 1 + 1 = 3 certo?  Então como você pode dizer que acredita em somente um Deus?<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Explicação após explicação, equação após equação, comparação após comparação, analogia após analogia, não consegui captar esse conceito.  Ok, vamos continuar pesquisando aqui.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Próxima doutrina principal: Jesus morreu por nossos pecados e fez isso porque somos todos poluídos com o “Pecado Original”.  Então, Jesus Cristo, o “filho de Deus”, teve que ser assassinado para salvar todos do inferno e nos curar de nosso pecado “dado” a nós por Adão.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

OK, então, você está dizendo que todos nós nascemos pecadores?  E pecar é fazer algo errado, certo?  Então você está me dizendo que um bebê de um ano de idade é culpado de pecado ou de fazer algo errado?  Isso é estranho. Então, baseado nas ações de um homem, toda a humanidade deve sofrer?  Qual a moral dessa história?  Punir todo o grupo se um se desviar?  Por que Deus criaria essa regra? Isso não está de acordo com a minha lógica.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Então Jesus morreu porque “ama a humanidade”.  Espere aí. É dito na Bíblia que Jesus disse: “Pai, por que me abandonaste?”  Então, aparentemente, Jesus não compreendeu por que estava sendo brutalmente assassinado.  Mas você diz que ele foi “voluntário” para ser sacrificado.  De qualquer maneira, não podia aceitar essa crença.  Ok, qual é a próxima religião?<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Islã.  Islã significa submissão.  As principais crenças são: Um Deus, adorar Deus cinco vezes ao dia, dar 2,5% de caridade anual, jejuar durante o Ramadã (para ficar mais próximo de Deus e apreciar a vida... entre outras razões) e finalmente viajar a Meca para o Hajj, se for financeiramente capaz.  Ok, nada difícil de entender até agora.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Nada que conflite com minha lógica aqui.  O Alcorão é um livro com todos esses milagres interessantes e sabedoria eterna.  Muitos fatos científicos que só foram descobertos recentemente foram proclamados 1.400 anos atrás nesse livro.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Ok, o Islã tinha passado por meus pré-requisitos religiosos iniciais.  Mas queria fazer algumas perguntas profundas sobre ele.  Essa religião é universal?  Sim, qualquer um pode compreender essas crenças básicas... não são necessárias nenhuma analogia ou equação.  Está de acordo com a ciência?  Sim, dúzias de versículos no Alcorão estão de acordo com a ciência e tecnologia modernas.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Enquanto esmiuçava os incontáveis fatos lógicos que li e pesquisei, uma coisa chamou muito a minha atenção.  “Islã.”  O nome dessa religião.  Notei que está escrito muitas vezes no Alcorão.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Entretanto, lembrando-me de meus estudos anteriores, não lembro de uma vez ver a palavra “Judaísmo” no Velho Testamento ou “Cristianismo” no Novo Testamento.  Isso era IMPORTANTE.  Por que não conseguia encontrar o nome das religiões naqueles dois livros?  Porque não há nome nesses livros!  Pensando... notei que “Judaísmo” pode ser dividido em “Juda-ismo” e “Cristianismo” pode ser respectivamente “Crist-ianismo”.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Então, quem é Judá?  Ou Judah.  Era o líder da tribo dos hebreus quando Deus revelou Sua mensagem para a humanidade.  Então essa religião recebeu o nome... de uma pessoa.  Ok, vamos ver quem foi Cristo.  Foi a pessoa que transmitiu a mensagem de Deus para os judeus.  Então essa religião recebeu o nome... de uma pessoa.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Relembrando, podemos deduzir que os nomes dessas religiões são nomes próprios de pessoas com o sufixo “ismo”.  Independente desse fato, os nomes dessas religiões não são mencionados em suas escrituras.  Achei muito estranho.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Se sair de porta em porta vendendo um produto e disser: “Gostaria de comprar esse __________”?  A pergunta lógica não seria: “Como esse __________ se chama?”  Não ganharia dinheiro com um produto sem nome.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

O nome é a base com a qual os humanos se identificam com objetos, físicos ou não.  Se a religião é para ser praticada e difundida para todas as pessoas na terra, não deveria haver um NOME para ela?<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Além disso, o nome não deveria ser transmitido a nós por Deus Todo-Poderoso?  SIM, exatamente meu ponto.  Os nomes “Cristianismo” e “Judaísmo” não estavam escritos nas escrituras sagradas.  Os humanos lhes dera nome, não Deus.  E impossível para minha mente conceber a noção de que Deus ordenaria uma religião para ser seguida pela humanidade sem um nome.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Nesse ponto, tanto o Cristianismo quanto o Judaísmo perderam suas credibilidades como religiões puras, lógicas e completas, pelo menos a partir de minha perspectiva.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

O Islã é a ÚNICA dessas religiões que inclui o NOME da religião em suas escrituras.  Isso era colossal para mim.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Percebi que seguiria o Islã nesse ponto.  Então me tornei muçulmano.  Sabia a verdade.  Saí da escuridão.  Entrei na luz...<\/span><\/p>\r\n
