*Question #10: (a) “What should the one making istikh\u0101ra[1] prayer say if he has two affairs on the same level and does not have an inclination toward either one, meaning 50-50?”<\/span>
Shaykh al-Alb\u0101n\u012b answers: “What I understand from your question is that he does not have an intention (to do something),[2] therefore there is no istikh\u0101ra prayer upon him.”<\/span><\/p>\r\n

*Question #10: (a) “Is the istikh\u0101ra prayer legislated for one who is confused about doing something or is it legislated for one who has made up his mind to do so?”<\/span>
Shaykh al-Alb\u0101n\u012b answers: “No, the istikh\u0101ra prayer does not remove confusion. Istikh\u0101ra prayer is (done) after a person has made up his mind to do something; so here, istikh\u0101ra is performed. Istikh\u0101ra prayer is not legislated for removing doubt and uncertainty regarding a matter which the Muslim has not made up his mind about.”<\/span><\/p>\r\n

*Question #5: (b) “Is the du\u02bd\u0101 (supplication) of istikh\u0101ra prayer before the tasl\u012bm or after it?”<\/span>
Shaykh al-Alb\u0101n\u012b answers: “After the tasl\u012bm.”<\/span><\/p>\r\n

*Question #12: (c) “Is it allowed to repeat the istikh\u0101ra prayer?”<\/span>
Shaykh al-Alb\u0101n\u012b answers: “It is allowed if his istikh\u0101ra prayer was not (performed in the way in which it is) legislated, and it is enough for it to be not legislated if he makes istikh\u0101ra to his Lord by (merely) his words, and not by his heart. And he himself is aware of this inattentiveness, so then he is forced to repeat (the istikh\u0101ra prayer). As for if he himself did not feel any of that, then he has innovated (if he repeats it).”<\/span><\/p>\r\n

[1] istikh\u0101ra means to seek (from All\u0101h) that which is best regarding something<\/span>
[2] this is in reference to the actual wording of the had\u012bth in which the Prophet (\u0635\u0644\u0649 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647 \u0639\u0644\u064a\u0647 \u0648\u0633\u0644\u0645) said: “If one of you intends to do something, then let him pray two rak\u02bdah, then say [the du\u02bd\u0101 of istikh\u0101ra];” Sah\u012bh al-Bukh\u0101r\u012b #6382<\/span><\/p>\r\n
