Rap music has seen more than its share of influence from the religion of Islam.  With groups such as Public Enemy rapping about their respect for the Nation of Islam, to people such as Q-Tip of a Tribe Called Quest embracing mainstream Islam, the religion seems to be a recurrent theme in the genre, both impacting lyrics and lives.  One artist more recently touched by Islam is Eric Schrody, better known in music circles as Everlast.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

While Everlast began his musical career as a rap artist, he has recently shown himself to have much greater depth and diversity.  His current album, Whitey Ford Sings the Blues (currently ranked #49 on billboard’s charts after peaking at #9) exhibits this in its reflective and somewhat philosophical tone, showing glimpses of the influence Islam has had on his life.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

What follows is an interview in which Everlast discusses his journey to Islam and the challenges he faces as a new Muslim.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

AB: Tell me about the first time you learned about Islam?<\/span><\/p>\r\n

E: It was probably around the late 80’s.  I was hangin’ out with Divine Styler (a popular Los Angeles rap artist).  He was basically at the end of his 5% period (referring to the pseudo-Islamic “Nation of Gods and Earths” sect).  He was starting to come into Islam.  He lived with the Bashir family.  Abdullah Bashir was sort of his teacher; and mine it wound up later.  As he was making the transition from 5% into Islam, I would just be around and hear things.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

I’m trying to think of the first time I recognized it as Islam.  I think it was when one of Divine’s friends took Shahadah (the Muslim profession of faith) and I was there.  I heard him say, “I bear witness that there is no God but God, and Muhammad is the servant and messenger.” And I remember me being like, “What is this?  I’m white.  Can I be here?”  It was outta ignorance, you know?  ‘Cause here in America, Islam is considered a “Black thing.” And that’s when someone pointed out to me, “You have no idea how many white Muslims there are in the world.” I was like, “Really,” and somebody broke it down.  I said, “That’s crazy.  I had no clue.”<\/span><\/p>\r\n

AB: Do you feel any extra pressure being a white Muslim in America?<\/span><\/p>\r\n

E: I don’t think of it on the grand scale.  To me, Islam is mine.  Allah is the God of all the worlds, and all mankind and all the Aalameen (worlds\/universe).  Islam is my personal relationship with God.  So nobody can put any more pressure on me than I can put on myself.  But as far as the mosque where I pray, I have never felt more at home or more welcome.  And it’s not just mine.  The few mosques that I’ve gone to around the country, I’ve never ever been made to feel uncomfortable.  Like in New York, the mosque is big and there’s so many people that nobody is lookin’ to notice you.  There were Chinese, Korean, Spanish - everything, which was a good thing for me because at my mosque I’m the only white male, [although] there are some white females.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

I think at first, I thought about it more than anybody else the first couple times I went to Jumma (the Friday congregational prayer).  The first time I went to Jumma, I was taken by a friend of mine in New York.  It was in Brooklyn in Bed-Stuy (Bedford Stuyvestant).  I was nervous about the neighborhood I was in, not the mosque.  But I was just so at ease once I was there.  I was like, “This is great.” I didn’t feel any different than anybody else in the mosque.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

AB: How did your family take your turning to Islam?  Because you were raised Catholic, right?<\/span><\/p>\r\n

E: Well, you know my mom is very open minded, very progressive.  My mother lives with me.  And I’ve been raised all my life with not a belief in God, but a knowledge that he exists.  I was taught [that] if [I were to know] anything in the world, [I should] know there’s a God.  And my mom, even though she was Catholic, she was the first person to point out hypocrisy in the church.  My mom really hasn’t attended church in a long time.  But as far as me, my mom is just happy that I have God in my life.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

She sees me making prayers.  And Divine is one of her favorite people in the world.  She knows how much different we are than when she first knew us as kids.  When me and Divine first hooked up, we were wild.  We were out partyin’, fightin’, doin’ whatever we had to do.  We thought, “Yeah, that’s what being a man is about.  We’re gonna go out here and be thuggish.”<\/span><\/p>\r\n

[But] she has seen how much it’s changed me and him; and how much peace it’s brought me since I’ve started to really accomplish something with it.  I actually had a long talk with my mother the other day and we were on the topic of religion.  We were actually talking about life and death, and the future and when she might go (die, pass away).  That won’t be for a long time, inshallah (God willing).  But I asked her to do me one favor.  I said, “Mom, when you die there might be some angels who ask you a question, and I want you to answer it; and I’m not sure exactly how it goes, ‘cause I ain’t died yet.  Remember that there’s only one God, and he’s never been a man.”<\/span><\/p>\r\n

She said, “I know what you are trying to tell me.” [And] I said, “Jesus wasn’t God, Ma.”<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Some of what I know has definitely shown up in my mother.  She’s no Muslim, but she knows there’s only one God.  And that makes me very happy.  I know guys that have turned towards Islam and their families have turned them out (i.e. rejected them).<\/span><\/p>\r\n

AB: My family tried to.  I just can’t understand that.  But you know what?  That’s a trial.  Although I’ve changed my name for like 8 years now, they still run up calling me by my birth name.  Then it’s, “Oh I forgot that you’re Muslim.” Then it’s the pork jokes.  It never stops.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

E: It’s one of those things where people laugh at what they don’t understand.  Or they fear what they can’t grasp.  The thing is that nobody can pretend that they don’t understand it.  Because I’ve never come across anything more simple in my life.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Like I remember that when I sat down and asked, “So, what does a Muslim believe,” and I got the list run down to me.  I was like, “You don’t put up the wall between Christianity and Judaism.” They were like, “Nah, it’s all the same story.”<\/span><\/p>\r\n

If when you finally get down to reading the Quran, the Bible and the Torah, which is pretty much just the Old Testament, you find that the Quran is just an affirmation of what is correct and isn’t correct within those books (the Bible and the Torah).  And then you say to yourself, “How did that go down when these cats were all from different parts of the world?”  But they are all confirming each other’s story.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

I’m reading a book right now called Muhammad: The Life of the Prophet, by Karen Armstrong.  It was written by a non-Muslim.  So far, I’m only about a quarter of the way through; but it starts out telling you how they originally tried to make Muhammad look like the most evil man on the earth; that he established Islam under the sword.  But then you learn that Muhammad only fought when he had to.  Muhammad only fought to defend Islam.  It’s a very good book about the man.  It just lets you know that this cat was a man.  We ain’t trying to tell you that he was anything else but a man.  We’re telling you as Muslims that he was the most perfect example of a man to walk the earth so far.  And from what I’ve read he is the last one to come of his kind.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

When you get beyond being scared of Farrakhan and what he’s sayin’ -- and here as a white person I’m speaking -- when you get beyond the ignorance of believing that Islam has anything to do with just people that are blowing up things, that doesn’t have anything to do with Islam.  They might do it in the name of Islam.  But it has nothing to do with Islam.  You can’t argue with it.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

When I explain Jesus to a Christian, he can’t argue with me.  And I don’t mean argue, saying, “Jesus isn’t God!”  I mean, how much more sense does it make that he’s a man?  If I was Christian, which to me means to be Christ-like, and God asks me, “Hey how come you weren’t more like Jesus?”  I’ll say, I wasn’t more like Jesus because you made him half of a God [and] I’m only a man?”  That doesn’t make any sense.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

God doesn’t want things hard on us.  God wants things easy as possible.  God is going to make it as easy as possible.  If you ask and you are sincere, God will bring it to you.  He might throw some rocks on your path, to make you trip and stumble.  But it’s gonna come to you.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

AB: Talk to me about the first and second time you took your Shahadah (profession of faith).<\/span><\/p>\r\n

E: Well the first time, it was right after I had heard a tape from Warith Deen Muhammad (son of Nation of Islam founder, Elijah Muhammad, who took most of the Nation of Islam into mainstream Islam).  That just kinda broke down the whole Jesus thing.  He explained that we (Muslims) do Christians a great favor by bringing Jesus down to the level of a man.  Why would God create a man who is half a God and compare us to him?  And it just sent off a bomb in my head.  So I took Shahadah.  And then the initial high wore off.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

It was almost like a Christian who says that they accept Jesus.  Then they say, “No matter what I do now I’m saved.” ‘Cause I was raised with that kinda mentality.  Like, “OK, I accept the truth so let me just go out here and sin my butt off and I’m saved.”<\/span><\/p>\r\n

I didn’t really claim to be Muslim though at that time.  I picked and chose what I wanted to believe.  God gave me leeway for a time.  But eventually it was time to fish or cut the line.  I was coming to a point where I was unsatisfied emotionally, and spiritually.  I had money in the bank and a $100,000 car, women left and right -- everything that you think you want.  And then just sitting there being like, “Why am I unhappy?”  Finally that voice that talks to you -- not the whisper (of Satan) -- the voice said, “Well, basically you’re unhappy because you’re living foul and you’re not trying to do anything about it.”<\/span><\/p>\r\n

My stubbornness at that time wouldn’t allow me to talk about it at that time.  You get in that state of mind where you’re like, “I can figure this out all by myself.”<\/span><\/p>\r\n

I finally got humble enough to talk to Divine and Abdullah about it.  They asked me, “How do you feel?  What do you think it is?”  So finally I’m sittin’ there taking Shahadah again.  From that point on I’ve made a commitment where I’m going to try my best.  I’m gonna do my best to make my prayers, let’s start there.  Let’s not beat ourselves up because we went out last night and had a drink.  Let’s make our prayers and pray for the strength to stop doing one thing at a time.  That’s what I’m still dealing with.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

You know, once you get over the big things, it becomes very subtle.  It can be as subtle as looking at a man, and not even speaking bad about him, but back-biting him in your mind.  The easy ones to beat -- well I shouldn’t say easy -- the big ones are easy to notice.  It’s the subtle psychological stuff that helps you get into who really you are.  You gotta be able to face the truth of who you are.  If you are not able to face that truth of who you are, you’re gonna crumble, man.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

People question me and go, “You’re Muslim?”  And I’m like, “Yeah I’m Muslim, but I’m also a professional sinner.” I’m tryin’ to get over it, tryin’ to retire.  I won’t front and say I’m better than you.  I just believe that I’ve been shown the truth and hopefully that will save me.”<\/span><\/p>\r\n

La música Rap ha sido muy influenciada por la religión del Islam. Y fue en ese momento cuando alguien me señaló y dijo: “No tienes idea de la cantidad de musulmanes blancos que hay en el mundo”. Yo me quedé sorprendido: ‘¿Realmente?’, y alguien me lo explicó. Yo dije: “Es increíble. No tenía idea”.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

AB: ¿Sientes alguna presión extra por ser un musulmán blanco en Norte América?<\/span><\/p>\r\n

E: Yo no pienso en eso en una gran escala. Para mí, el Islam es mío. Allah es el Dios de todos los mundos, y de toda la humanidad y de todo el universo. El Islam es mi relación personal con Dios. Por lo tanto, nadie puede presionarme más de lo que yo pueda presionarme a mi mismo. Pero con respecto a la mezquita donde rezo, nunca me sentí más a gusto. Y no solo en la mía. En las pocas mezquitas donde  he rezado en el país, nunca me sentí incomodo. Como en Nueva York, la mezquita es grande y hay tanta gente que nadie se detiene a mirarte. Había chinos, coreanos, españoles – de todo, lo que fue bueno para mi porque en mi mezquita soy el único hombre blanco, aunque si hay algunas mujeres blancas.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Creo que al principio, lo pensé mas que nadie las primeras veces que fui para Yummua (la oración congregacional de los viernes). La primera vez que fui para Yummua, me llevó un amigo mío en Nueva York. Fue en Brooklyn en Bed-Stuy (Bedford Stuyvestant). Estaba nervioso por el barrio, no por la mezquita. Pero me sentí tan cómodo cuando entré. Yo pensaba: “esto es grandioso”. No me sentí diferente a nadie de la mezquita.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

AB: ¿Cómo tomó tu familia el hecho de tu transformación al Islam? Porque fuiste criado como católico, ¿no es cierto?<\/span><\/p>\r\n

E: Bien, mi madre no tiene prejuicios, es muy progresista. Mi madre vive conmigo. Me crié toda mi vida no con una creencia en Dios sino con el conocimiento de su existencia. Me enseñaron que si sabía algo del mundo, debería saber de la existencia de Dios. Y mi madre, aunque era católica, fue la primera en mostrarme la hipocresía de la iglesia. Mi madre no iba a la iglesia hacia mucho tiempo. Pero con respecto a mi, ella está feliz de que Dios esté conmigo.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Me ve rezar. Y Divine es una de sus personas favoritas en el mundo. Sabe cuan diferentes estamos que la primera vez que nos conocimos en nuestra infancia. Cuando nos conocimos con Divine éramos salvajes. Salíamos de fiesta, peleas, hacíamos lo que tuviésemos que hacer. Pensábamos: ‘Si, esto es ser un hombre. Somos matones’.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Pero ella ve nuestro cambio; y cuanta paz he tenido desde que comencé realmente a lograr algo con esto. Precisamente, hace unos días tuve una larga charla con mi madre y hablamos de la religión. En realidad, hablábamos de la vida y la muerte, y del futuro, y de cuando ella podría morir. Eso no pasará en mucho tiempo, inshallah (Dios mediante).  Pero le pedí un favor. Le dije, “Madre, cuando mueras posiblemente hayan unos ángeles que te pregunten, y quiero que les respondas; y no estoy seguro de cómo es, ‘porque todavía no he muerto. Recuerda que hay un solo Dios, y nunca ha sido hombre’.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Ella dijo: ‘Se lo que estas tratando de decirme’. Y yo dije: “Jesús, no fue Dios, Ma.”<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Algo de lo que se definitivamente se ve en mi madre. No es musulmana, pero sabe que existe un solo Dios. Y eso me hace muy feliz. Se de personas que se han vuelto musulmanas y sus familias los han rechazado.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

AB: Mi familia intentó. No puedo entenderlo. ¿Pero sabes qué? Esa es una prueba. Aunque he cambiado mi nombre hace 8 años ya, todavía me llaman por mi nombre anterior. Y entonces dicen: ‘Oh me he olvidado de que eres musulmán’, y comienzan a hacer bromas. Nunca termina.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

E: es una de esas cosas donde las personas  ríen de lo que no comprenden. O temen lo que no pueden alcanzar. Pero nadie puede pretender no entenderlo. Porque nunca he visto algo tan simple en mi vida.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Como cuando recuerdo que me senté y pregunte, ‘Entonces en que cree un musulmán’, y me hicieron una lista. Entonces pregunte: “No hacen una separación entre los cristianos y los judíos”. Ellos dijeron: “No, es todo lo mismo”.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Si al leer finalmente en el Corán, la Biblia y la Tora, que es casi lo mismo que el Antiguo Testamento, se encuentra con que el Corán es solo la afirmación de lo correcto y es lo correcto dentro de estos libros (la Biblia y la Tora). Y luego te dices a ti mismo: “¿Cómo sucedió esto cuando son todos de diferentes partes del mundo?” Pero todos confirman la historia del otro.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

En estos momentos estoy leyendo un libro llamado Muhammad: la vida del Profeta. Por Karen Armstrong. Fue escrito por una no-musulmana. Hasta ahora, solo estoy a un cuarto de camino; pero comienza contando como originariamente intentaron hacer que Muhammad parezca el ser más diabólico de la tierra; que estableció el Islam bajo el poder de su espada. Pero luego comprendes que Muhammad solo peleó cuando debió hacerlo. Muhammad solo luchó para defender el Islam. Es un libro muy bueno acerca del hombre. Te deja saber que este personaje era un hombre. Solo tratamos de decirte que fue nada más que un hombre.  Como musulmanes decimos que él fue el mejor ejemplo de un hombre sobre la tierra, hasta ahora. Y por lo que he leído es el último de este tipo.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Cuando llegas más allá del miedo a Farrakhan y a lo que dice – y lo digo como persona blanca – cuando llegas mas allá de la ignorancia de creer que el Islam esta relacionado solo con personas que vuelan cosas, eso no tiene nada que ver con el Islam. Lo podrán hacer en el nombre del Islam. Pero no tiene nada que ver con el Islam. No se puede discutir con eso.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Cuando hablo de Jesús con un cristiano, no puede discutir conmigo. Y no hablo de discutir, diciendo: ‘¡Jesús no es Dios!’ es decir, ¿Qué sentido tiene si es un hombre? Si yo fuese cristiano, lo que para mi significa ser como Cristo, y Dios me preguntase, “¿Cómo es que no te pareces mas a Jesús?” yo diría: ¡No soy mas parecido a Jesús porque él se proclamó mitad Dios (y) yo soy solo un hombre!” eso no tiene sentido.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Dios no quiere que las cosas nos sean difíciles. Dios quiere que las cosas nos sean lo mas fáciles posible. Si pides y eres sincero. Dios te responderá. Puede poner algunas piedras en tu camino, para que en tu camino tambalees. Pero el responderá.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

AB: háblame de la primera y segunda vez que profesaste la Shahadah (profesión de fe).<\/span><\/p>\r\n

E: Bien, la primera vez, fue después de haber escuchado una grabación de Warith Deen Muhammad (hijo del fundador de la Nación del Islam, Elijah Muhammad, que tomó la mayor parte de La Nación del Islam establecida en el Islam). Eso rompió de alguna manera el asunto de Jesús. Explicó que nosotros (los musulmanes) les hacemos un gran favor a los cristianos al tratar a Jesús como un hombre. ¿Por qué Dios crearía a un hombre mitad Dios y lo compararía con nosotros? Eso me hizo pensar. Entonces profesé la Shahadah. <\/span><\/p>\r\n

Fue casi como un cristiano que dice que acepta a Jesús. Luego dicen: “No importa lo que haga, estoy salvado”. “Porque fui criado con ese tipo de mentalidad.” Como: “OK, yo acepto la verdad, por lo tanto déjenme salir y pecar todo lo que quiera ya que estoy salvado”.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

En ese momento no afirmaba ser un musulmán. Yo elegí lo que quería creer. Dios me dio libertad de acción por un breve periodo. Pero eventualmente era momento de decidirse. Estaba llegando a un punto en donde me sentía emocional y espiritualmente insatisfecho. Tenía dinero en el banco y un auto de $100.000, mujeres por doquier – todo lo que crees que deseas. Y luego pensaba: “¿Por qué soy infeliz?” Finalmente esa voz que te habla – no el suspiro (de Satanás) – la voz decía: “bien, básicamente eres infeliz porque tu vida es pésima y no haces nada para cambiarla”.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Yo en ese momento no me permitía hablarlo. Estás en un estado mental donde piensas: “Puedo descifrar esto solo”.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Finalmente fui lo suficientemente humilde como para hablar con Divine y Abdullah acerca del tema. Ellos me preguntaron: “¿Cómo te sientes? ¿Qué crees que es?” finalmente me encontré allí profesando la Shahadah nuevamente. Desde ese momento me he comprometido y he tratado de hacer lo mejor. Pondré lo mejor de mí para realizar mis oraciones, empecemos por allí. No nos maltratemos porque hemos salido la noche anterior y hemos bebido. Hagamos nuestras oraciones y recemos pidiendo fuerzas para detener una cosa a la vez. En eso me estoy concentrando en este momento.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Sabes, una vez que sobrepasas las cosas mayores, se convierte en algo sutil. Puede ser algo tan imperceptible como mirar a un hombre, y no hablar mal de él, sino murmurar en tu mente. Las cosas mas fáciles de vencer – bueno,  no debería decir las mas fáciles – las mas grandes son las mas difíciles de notar. Es la cosa sutil psicológica que te ayuda a ver quien eres realmente. Tienes que poder enfrentar la verdad de quien eres. Si no eres capaz, te desmoronarás.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

La gente me cuestiona y dice: “¿Eres musulmán?” y yo pienso: “Si soy musulmán, pero también soy un pecador profesional”. Estoy intentando superarlo, retirarme. No diré que soy mejor que tu. Solo creo que me han mostrado la verdad y deseo salvarme”.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Rapmusik wurde häufig vom Islam beeinflusst.  Von Gruppen wie Public Enemy, die über ihren Respekt für die Nation des Islam rappen, bis hin zu Leuten wie Q-Tip of a Tribe Called Quest, die zusammen zum Islam übergetreten sind, scheint die Religion ein sich wiederholendes Thema in diesem Genre zu sein, sowohl in den Texten der Lieder als auch im Leben der Künstler.  Ein weiterer Künstler, der erst vor Kurzem vom Islam berührt worden war, ist Eric Schrody, in Musikkreisen besser als Everlast bekannt.  <\/span><\/p>\r\n

Als Everlast seine Musikkarriere als Rapkünstler begann, zeigte er bald, dass er weit mehr Tiefgang und Vielfältigkeit besitzt.  Sein gegenwärtiges Album Whitey Ford Sings the Blues (momentan Platz #49 der billboard’s charts nach einem Höhepunkt von #9) demonstriert dies anhand seines reflektiven und irgendwie philosophischen Tons und vermittelt einen Einblick auf den Einfluss, den der Islam auf sein Leben gewonnen hat.   <\/span><\/p>\r\n

Es folgt ein Interview in dem Everlast seine Reise zum Islam und auch die Herausforderungen, die sich ihm als neuen Muslim stellen, beschreibt. <\/span><\/p>\r\n

AB: Erzähl mir darüber, wie du zuerst über den Islam gehört hast. <\/span><\/p>\r\n

E: Es war vielleicht in den späten 80ern.  Ich hing mit Divine Styler (einem bekannten Rapstar aus Los Angeles) herum.  Er war am Ende seiner 5% Periode (dies bezieht sich auf die pseudo-islamische \"Nation von Göttern und Erden\" Sekte).  Und er begann, sich für den wahren Islam zu interessieren.  Er lebte mit der Bashir-Familie.  Abdullah Bashir war für ihn eine Art Lehrer; und später dann auch meiner.  Als er diese Umwandlung von 5% zum Islam machte, war ich in seiner Umgebung und hörte von Zeit zu Zeit darüber reden. <\/span><\/p>\r\n

Ich versuche, an das erste Mal zu denken, als ich es als Islam erkannt habe.  Ich denke, es war, als einer von Divines Freunden die Schahada (das muslimische Glaubensbekenntnis) sprach, und ich war dabei.  Ich hörte ihn sagen: \"Ich bezeuge, dass es keinen Gott gibt ausser Gott und Muhammad ist Sein Diener und Gesandter.  Und ich erinnere mich, ich dachte sowas wie: \"Was ist das?  Ich bin weiß.  Kann ich hier sein?\"  Es war pure Ignoranz, weißt du?  Denn hier in Amerika wird der Islam als Angelegenheit der Schwarzen betrachtet.  Und als jemand mir gegenüber erklärt hat: \"Was meinst du, wie viele weiße Muslime es auf der Welt gibt?\"  fragte ich darauf: \"Wirklich?\"  Denn ich hatte davon wirklich noch nie gehört.  <\/span><\/p>\r\n

AB: Fühlst du einen zusätzlichen Druck als weißer Muslim in Amerika? <\/span><\/p>\r\n

E: Im Großen und Ganzen denke ich nicht.  Für mich, ist der Islam meine Sache.  Allah ist der Gott aller Welten und der gesamten Menschheit und von al-Alamien (der Welten\/des Universums).  Islam ist meine persönliche Beziehung zu Gott.  Also kann niemand mir irgendeinen Druck auferlegen, als den, den ich mir selber mache.  Aber was die Moschee angeht, in der ich bete, ich habe mich nie irgendwo mehr zuhause oder mehr Willkommen gefühlt.  Und nicht nur in der.  Die paar Moscheen, die ich im Land besucht habe, nie habe ich mich unbequem gefühlt.  Wie in New York zum Beispiel, die Moschee ist groß, und es gibt so viele Leute dort, dass dich niemand betrachtet, um dich zu bemerken.  Dort waren Chinesen, Koreaner, Spanier – das war gut für mich, denn in meiner Moschee war ich der einzige weiße Mann, obgleich es einige weiße Frauen dort gibt.  <\/span><\/p>\r\n

Ich denke, ich habe mehr als irgendjemand sonst darüber nachgedacht, die ersten Male, als ich zum Jumua (Freitagsgebet) gegangen bin.  Das erste Mal, hat mich ein Freund zum Jumuagebet in New York mitgenommen.  Es war in Brooklyn in Bed-Stuy (Bedford Stuyvestant).  Ich war aufgeregt wegen der Gegend, in der wir waren, nicht wegen der Moschee.  Aber sobald wir dort waren, fühlte ich mich ganz entspannt.  Ich dachte: \"Das ist toll.\"  Ich fühlte mich nicht anders als irgendein anderer in der Moschee.  <\/span><\/p>\r\n

AB: Wie hat deine Familie aufgenommen, dass du dich dem Islam zugewendet hast?  Du bist doch katholisch erzogen worden, richtig? <\/span><\/p>\r\n

E: Nun, weißt du, meine Mom ist sehr weitherzig, sehr fortschrittlich.  Meine Mutter lebt mit mir.  Und ich bin mein gesamtes Leben ohne Glauben an Gott aufgewachsen, aber mit dem Wissen, dass Er existiert.  Mir wurde beigebracht, dass wenn ich nichts von der Welt wüsste, dann sollte ich wissen, dass es einen Gott gibt.  Und meine Mutter, obwohl sie katholisch ist, ist sie Erste, die die Heuchelei in der Kirche kritisiert.  Meine Mutter ist tatsächlich schon lange nicht mehr in der Kirche gewesen.  Aber was mich betrifft, ist meine Mom einfach glücklich, dass ich Gott in meinem Leben habe. <\/span><\/p>\r\n

Sie sieht mich Gebete verrichten.  Divine ist einer ihrer Lieblingsmenschen auf dieser Welt.  Sie weiß, wie sehr wir uns verändert haben, seit sie uns zuerst als Kinder gesehen hast.  Als ich und Divine Jungendliche waren, waren wir wild. Immer Party, Kämpfen, wir machten, was wir wollten.  Wir dachten: \"Ja, das ist das Leben als Mann.\"  Wir gehen raus und sind Rowdies.”<\/span><\/p>\r\n

[Aber] sie hat gesehen, wie er mich und ihn verändert hat, und wieviel Frieden er mir gebracht hat, seit ich begonnen habe, ihn zu erfüllen.  Ich hatte tatsächlich an einem Tag eine lange Unterhaltung mit ihr über Religion.  Wir sprachen über Leben und Tod und die Zukunft und wann sie gehen (sterben) könnte.   Das wird noch lange nicht der Fall sein (inschaAllah).  Aber ich bat sie, mir einen Gefallen zu tun.  Ich sagte: \"Mom, wenn du stirbst, dann könnte es ein paar Engel geben, die dir eine Frage stellen; und ich möchte, dass du sie beantwortest; und ich bin mir nicht sicher, wie sie geht, denn ich bin noch nicht gestorben.  Erinnere dich daran, es gibt nur einen Gott, und Er war nie ein Mensch.”<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Sie sagte: \"Ich weiß, was du mir zu erklären versuchst.” [Und] ich sagte: “Jesus war nicht Gott, Ma.”<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Etwas, von dem, was ich weiß, hat meine Mutter angenommen.  Sie ist kein Muslim, aber sie weiß, dass es nur Einen Gott gibt.  Und das macht mich sehr glücklich.  Ich kenne Jungs, die haben sich dem Islam zugewandt und ihre Familien haben sich von ihnen abgekehrt. <\/span><\/p>\r\n

AB: Meine Familie versuchte es.  Ich kann es einfach nicht verstehen.  Aber weißt du was?  Das ist eine Prüfung.  Obwohl ich meinen Namen schon seit 8 Jahren geändert habe, rufen sie mich immer noch mit meinem Geburtsnamen.  So ist das: \"Oh, ich habe vergessen, dass du Muslim bist.\"  Dann kommen diese Schweine-Witze.  Das endet nie.     <\/span><\/p>\r\n

E: Eines der Dinge, über die die Menschen lachen, ist das, was sie nicht verstehen.  Oder sie befürchten, sie können es nicht begreifen.  Die Sache ist, niemand kann behaupten, dass sie es nicht verstehen.  Denn mir ist in meinem ganzen Leben nie etwas Einfacheres vorgekommen. <\/span><\/p>\r\n

Ich erinnere mich daran, als ich einmal mit ihnen saß und fragte: \"Also, was glaubt ein Muslim?\"  und ich ging die Liste durch.  \"Ihr werdet nicht die Mauer zwischen Christentum und Judentum aufheben\", sagte ich.  Ihre Ansicht war eher: \"Es ist sowiso alles die gleiche Geschichte.\" <\/span><\/p>\r\n

Wenn du schließlich den Qur´an, die Bibel und die Thora liest, die dem Alten Testament ziemlich ähnlich ist, wirst du herausfinden, dass der Qur´an nur eine Bestätigung dessen ist, was in diesen Büchern (der Bibel und der Thora) richtig und falsch ist.  Und dann sagst du zu dir selbst: wie kann das angehen, wenn diese Katzen (die Bücher) alle aus unterschiedlichen Teilen der Welt stammen?\"  Aber sie bestätigen jede die Geschichte der anderen.   <\/span><\/p>\r\n

Ich lese gerade ein Buch mit dem Titel: Muhammad: Das Leben des Propheten von Karen Armstrong.  Es wurde von einem Nicht-Muslim geschrieben.  Bis jetzt habe ich gerade erst ein Viertel davon durchgelesen; aber es beginnt damit, dir zu erzählen, wie sie ursprünglich versucht haben, Muhammad wie den schlimmsten Mann auf der Welt aussehen zu lassen; dass er den Islam mit dem Schwert verbreitet habe.  Aber dann erfährst du, dass Muhammad nur kämpfte, um den Islam zu verteidigen.  Es ist ein sehr gutes Buch über den Mann.  Es lässt dich einfach wissen, dass er (nur) ein Mann war.  Wir wollen nicht versuchen, dir einzureden, dass er mehr als ein Mann gewesen sei.  Wir sagen als Muslime, dass er der vollkommenste Mann war, der je auf der Erde gewandelt ist.  Und nach dem, was ich gelesen habe, ist er auch der Letzte dieser Art, der kommen wird. <\/span><\/p>\r\n

Wenn du darüber hinwegkommst, vor Farrakhan und dem, was er sagt, Angst zu haben – und hier spreche ich als weiße Person – wenn du über die Unwissenheit hinwegkommst, zu glauben, der Islam hätte irgend etwas mit Leuten zu tun, die nur irgendwelche Sachen in die Luft jagen, das hat überaupt nichts mit Islam zu tun.  Sie mögen es im Namen des Islam tun.  Darüber kann man nicht streiten. <\/span><\/p>\r\n

Wenn ich mit einem Christen über Jesus spreche, dann kann er nicht mit mir streiten.  Und ich meine nicht, streiten, indem man sagt: \"Jesus ist nicht Gott.\"  Ich meine, wie viel mehr Sinn macht es, dass er ein Mann ist?  Wenn ich Christ wäre, was für mich gleichbedeutend ist, mit Christ ähnlich zu sein, und Gott fragt mich: \"Hey, wie kommt es, dass du nicht noch mehr wie Jesus warst?\"  Dann würde ich sagen: \"Ich war nicht noch mehr wie Jesus, weil Du ihn zur Hälfte göttlich gemacht hast (und) ich bin nur ein Mensch.\"  Das macht keinen Sinn.  <\/span><\/p>\r\n

Gott will uns die Dinge nicht schwer machen; Gott will die Dinge so leicht wie möglich machen.  Wenn du bittest, und du bist aufrichtig, dann wird Gott es dir geben.  Er könnte dir ein paar Steine in den Weg legen, um dich stolpern und straucheln zu lassen.  Aber Er wird es dir geben. <\/span><\/p>\r\n

AB: Erzähl mir, von deinem ersten und deinem zweiten Mal, als du deine Schahada (die Glaubensbezeugung) gesprochen hast.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

E: Nun, das erste Mal war gleich nachdem ich die Aufnahme von Warith Deen Muhammad gehört hatte (dem Sohn des Gründers von der Nation of Islam, Elijah Muhammad, der den größten Teil von Nation of Islam zum Hauptstrom der Muslime mitnahm).  Das ließ mich diese ganze Sache mit Jesus klar sehen.  Er erklärte, wir (Muslime) tun den Christen einen großen Gefallen, indem wir Jesus auf die Stufe des Menschen stellen.  Warum sollte Gott einen Menschen erschaffen, der zur Hälfte ein Gott wäre und ihn dann mit uns vergleichen?  Und es zündete geradezu eine Bombe in meinem Kopf.  Also sprach ich die Schahadah.  Und dann war die anfängliche Höhe überwunden. <\/span><\/p>\r\n

Es war fast wie ein Christ, der sagt, dass sie Jesus akzeptieren.  Sie sagen dann: \"Egal, was ich tue, ich bin jetzt gerettet.\"  Denn mit so einer Mentalität bin ich aufgewachsen.  Wie: \"OK, ich akzeptiere die Wahrheit, laß´ mich rausgehen und sündigen, - ich bin gerettet.\" <\/span><\/p>\r\n

Ich behauptete nicht wirklich, Muslim zu sein, auch zu jener Zeit nicht.  Ich pickte und suchte mir heraus, was ich glauben wollte.  Gott gab mir eine Zeit lang einen Spielraum.  Aber es war schließlich an der Zeit, das Seil zu ergreifen oder es zu zerschneiden.  Ich war an einem Punkt angelangt, an dem ich unzufrieden war, emotional und spirituell.  Ich hatte Geld auf der Bank und ein $100,000 Auto, Frauen zu meiner Linken und meiner Rechten – alles, was du dir vorstellen kannst.  Und dann saß ich einfach nur da, (und fragte mich) \"Warum bin ich so unglücklich?\"  Letzten Endes sagte die Stimme, die zu dir spricht – nicht die Einflüsterung (Satans) – die Stimme sagte: \"Nun, du bist im Grunde so unglücklich, weil du faul lebst und nicht versuchst, etwas dagegen zu tun.\" <\/span><\/p>\r\n

Meine Halsstarrigkeit zu jener Zeit erlaubte es mir nicht, darüber zu reden.  Du kommst in einen Zustand, wo du denkst: \"Ich kann das alles allein herausfinden.\" <\/span><\/p>\r\n

Aber schließlich wurde ich bescheiden genug, um mit Divine und Abdullah darüber zu reden.  Sie fragten mich: \"Wie fühlst du dich?  Was denkst du, was es ist?\"  Da saß ich letzten Endes wieder und sprach die Schahada noch einmal.  Zu diesem Zeitpunkt bin ich eine Verpflichtung eingegangen, dass ich mich bemühen werde, mein Bestes zu versuchen.  Ich werde bein Bestes tun, um meine Gebete zu verrichten, lass uns hier beginnen.  Laß uns nicht uns selbst schlagen, weil wir letzte Nacht ausgegangen sind und einen Drink hatten.  Laß uns unsere Gebete verrichten und um die Stärke bitten, mit gewissen Dingen aufzuhören.  Das ist es, womit ich mich immer noch beschäftige. <\/span><\/p>\r\n

Weißt du, wenn du erst einmal über die großen Dinge weggekommen bist, wird es erst richtig kniffelig.  Es kann sein, dass du einen Mann siehst, und noch nicht einmal schlecht über ihn sprichst, aber in deinem Inneren sprichst du schlecht über ihn.  Die leichten sind zu bekämpfen – nun, ich sollte nicht \"leicht\" sagen – die großen sind leicht zu bemerken.  Es ist dieser kniffelige psychologische Kram, der dir hilft, zu erkennen, wer du wirklich bist.  Du solltest in der Lage sein, der Wahrheit, wer du bist, ins Gesicht zu schauen.  Wenn du nicht in der Lage bist, diese Wahrheit, wer du bist, ins Gesicht zu schauen, dann zerbrichst du, Mann. <\/span><\/p>\r\n

Leute fragen mich: \"Bist du Muslim?\"  Und ich sage: \"Yeah, ich bin Muslim, aber ich bin auch ein professioneller Sünder.\"  Ich versuche, darüber hinwegzukommen, versuche mich zu entfernen.  Ich würde dich nicht herausfordern und behaupten, ich bin besser als du.  Ich glaube einfach nur, dass mir die Wahrheit gezeigt wurde und ich bin hoffnungsvoll, dass ich gerettet werde.”<\/span><\/p>\r\n

O rap teve uma grande parcela de influência do Islã.  Com grupos como Public Enemy cantando rap sobre seu respeito pela Nação do Islã, a pessoas como Q-Tip de Tribe Called Quest abraçando o Islã tradicional, a religião parece ser um tema recorrente no gênero, causando impacto tanto na música quanto em vidas.  Um artista tocado mais recentemente pelo Islã é Eric Schrody, mais conhecido nos círculos musicais como Everlast.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Embora Everlast tenha começado sua carreira musical como artista de rap, ele recentemente demonstrou ter uma profundidade e diversidade muito maiores. O que se segue é uma entrevista na qual Everlast discute sua jornada ao Islã e os desafios que enfrenta como um novo muçulmano.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

AB: Fale sobre a primeira vez que aprendeu sobre o Islã.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

E: Foi provavelmente por volta do final dos anos 80.  Eu andava com Divine Styler (um popular artista de rap de Los Angeles).  Ele estava basicamente no fim de seu período de 5% (se referindo à seita pseudo-islâmica \"Nação de Deuses e Terras\").  Estava começando a entrar no Islã.  Ele vivia com a família Bashir.  Abdullah Bashir era de certa forma seu professor, e passou a ser meu posteriormente.  Enquanto ele fazia a transição da 5% para o Islã, eu simplesmente estava por perto e ouvia coisas.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Estou tentando pensar sobre a primeira vez que reconheci como Islã.  Acho que foi quando um dos amigos de Divine fez a Shahada (a profissão islâmica de fé) e eu estava lá.  Ouvi-o dizer: “Testemunho que não há deus exceto Deus e que Muhammad é o servo e mensageiro.” Lembro-me de pensar: “O que é isso? Sou branco. Posso estar aqui?” Era muita ignorância, sabe?  Porque aqui na América o Islã é considerado uma “coisa de negros.” E foi quando alguém chamou minha atenção: “Você não tem idéia de quantos muçulmanos brancos existem no mundo.” Eu disse: “Sério?” e alguém confirmou.  Eu disse: “Isso é loucura. Eu não fazia idéia.”<\/span><\/p>\r\n

AB: Você sente uma pressão extra por ser um muçulmano branco na América?<\/span><\/p>\r\n

E: Eu não penso muito nisso.  Para mim, o Islã é meu.  Allah é o Deus de todos os mundos, de toda a humanidade e todos os Aalameen (mundos\/universo).  O Islã é minha relação pessoal com Deus.  Então ninguém pode me pressionar mais do que eu já me pressiono.  Mas em relação à mesquita onde oro, nunca me senti mais em casa ou mais bem-vindo.  Não é só a minha.  Nas poucas mesquitas que frequentei em todo o país nunca me senti desconfortável.  Em Nova Iorque a mesquita é grande e tem tantas pessoas que ninguém nota você.  Havia chineses, coreanos, espanhóis, - tudo, o que foi bom para mim porque em minha mesquita sou o único branco, embora existam algumas mulheres brancas.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Eu pensava mais sobre isso nas primeiras vezes que fui para Jumma (a oração congregacional de sexta-feira. A primeira vez que fui para Jumma fui levado por um amigo meu em Nova Iorque. Foi no Brooklyn em Bed-Stuy (Bedford Stuyvestant). Estava nervoso sobre a vizinhança na qual ela ficava, não sobre a mesquita. Mas foi tudo muito fácil depois que já estava lá. Eu me dizia: “Isso é ótimo.” Não me senti diferente de ninguém na mesquita.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

AB: Como sua família lida com sua mudança para o Islã?  Por que você cresceu como católico, certo?<\/span><\/p>\r\n

E: Bem, você sabe, minha mãe é muito mente aberta, muito progressista.  Minha mãe mora comigo.  E fui criado toda a minha vida não com uma crença em Deus, mas com um conhecimento de que Ele existe.  Fui ensinado que se eu tivesse que saber qualquer coisa no mundo, deveria saber que existe um Deus.  E a minha mãe, mesmo sendo católica, foi a primeira pessoa a apontar a hipocrisia na igreja.  Minha mãe realmente não frequenta a igreja há muito tempo.  Mas com relação a mim, ela está feliz de eu ter Deus em minha vida.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Ela me vê fazendo as orações.  E Divine é uma das pessoas favoritas para ela no mundo.  Ela sabe o quanto nós somos diferentes desde que éramos crianças.  Quando eu e Divine começamos a andar juntos, éramos selvagens.  Vivíamos em festas, brigando, e fazendo o que tínhamos que fazer.  Pensávamos: “Isso é que é ser um homem. Vamos sair e ser durões.”<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Mas ela viu o quanto isso mudou a mim e a ele; e quanta paz trouxe para mim desde comecei a realizar algo com isso.  Na verdade tive uma longa conversa com minha mãe no outro dia sobre religião.  Estávamos falando sobre vida e morte, o futuro e quando ela tiver que partir (morrer).  Isso não acontecerá por muito tempo, inshallah (se Deus quiser).  Mas pedi a ela para me fazer um favor.  Eu disse: “Mãe, quando morrer haverão alguns anjos que farão uma pergunta a você e quero que a responda; não tenho certeza de como é exatamente, porque não morri ainda. Lembre que existe apenas um Deus, e que nunca foi um homem.”<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Ela disse: “Sei o que está tentando me dizer.” E eu disse: “Jesus não era Deus, mãe.”<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Um pouco do que sei tem se manifestado em minha mãe.  Ela não é muçulmana, mas sabe que só existe um Deus.  E isso me faz muito feliz.  Conheço caras que se voltaram para o Islã e suas famílias os rejeitaram.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

AB: Minha família tentou.  Não consigo entender isso.  Mas sabe de uma coisa?  É um teste.  Apesar de eu ter mudado o meu nome há uns 8 anos, eles continuam a me chamar pelo meu nome de nascimento.  Depois dizem: “Ah, esqueci que você é muçulmano.” E depois vêm as piadas sobre porcos.  Nunca para.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

E: Essa é uma das coisas sobre as quais as pessoas riem que não entendo.  Ou temem o que não podem entender.  A questão é que ninguém pode fingir que não entende.  Porque nunca encontrei nada mais simples em minha vida.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Lembro-me quando estava sentado e perguntei: “Então, no que um muçulmano acredita?” e recebi uma lista.  Então perguntei: “Vocês não colocam uma divisão entre Cristianismo e Judaísmo.” E eles responderam: “Não, é tudo a mesma história.”<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Se você finalmente termina de ler o Alcorão, a Bíblia e o Torá, que é basicamente o Velho Testamento, descobre que o Alcorão é apenas uma afirmação do que está correto e incorreto nesses livros (a Bíblia e o Torá).  Então diz para si mesmo: “Como isso desceu quando todos eram de partes diferentes do mundo?” Mas todos confirmam a história do outro.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Estou lendo agora um livro chamado Muhammad: A Vida do Profeta, de Karen Armstrong.  Foi escrito por uma não-muçulmana.  Até agora estou na quarta parte do livro, mas começa contando como originalmente tentaram fazer Muhammad parecer o pior homem sobre a terra e de que ele estabeleceu o Islã através da espada.   Mas então você aprende que Muhammad só lutou quando foi preciso.  Muhammad só lutou para defender o Islã.  É um livro muito bom sobre o homem.  Apenas faz você saber que ele era um homem.  Não estamos tentando dizer a você que ele era nada além de um homem.  Estamos dizendo a você como muçulmanos que ele foi o exemplo mais perfeito de um homem que andou sobre a terra.  E do que tenho lido ele é o último a ver da sua estirpe.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Quando deixa de se assustar com Farrakhan e com o que ele diz – e aqui falo como uma pessoa branca - quando deixa para trás a ignorância de acreditar que o Islã tem algo a ver com pessoas que estão explodindo coisas, porque isso não tem nada a ver com o Islã.  Podem fazê-lo em nome do Islã.  Mas não tem nada a ver com o Islã.  Não pode argumentar contra isso.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Quando explico Jesus a um cristão, ele não pode argumentar comigo.  E não quero dizer argumentar falando: “Jesus não é Deus!” Quero dizer, o quanto faz mais sentido ele ser um homem?   Se fosse cristão, o que significa ser semelhante a Jesus, e Deus me pergunta: \"Hei, como você não é mais semelhante a Jesus?” Direi que não era mais semelhante a Jesus porque ele era metade de um Deus, e eu, apenas um homem.” Não faz nenhum sentido.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Deus não quer dificultar as coisas para nós.  Deus quer as coisas tão fáceis quanto possível.  Deus vai facilitar as coisas ao máximo.  Se você faz um pedido e é sincero, Deus o atenderá.  Ele pode jogar algumas pedras no seu caminho, para fazer você tropeçar e cambalear.  Mas será atendido.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

AB: Fale sobre a primeira e a segunda vez que fez sua Shahada (profissão de fé).<\/span><\/p>\r\n

E: A primeira vez foi logo depois de ouvir uma fita de Warith Deen Muhammad (filho do fundador da Nação do Islã, Elijah Muhammad, que levou a maioria da Nação do Islã para o Islã tradicional).  Simplesmente derrubou toda a coisa sobre Jesus.  Ele explicou que nós (muçulmanos) fazemos um favor aos cristãos ao trazer Jesus ao nível de um homem.  Por que Deus criaria um homem que é metade de um Deus e nos compararia a ele?  Isso jogou uma bomba em minha cabeça.  Então fiz a Shahada.  E então o entusiasmo inicial diminuiu aos poucos.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Era quase como um cristão que diz que aceita Jesus.  Então diz: \"Não importa o que eu faça agora, porque estou salvo.\" Eu cresci com esse tipo de mentalidade.  Como: “Ok, aceito a verdade então me deixem sair e pecar até cansar e estou salvo.”<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Na verdade não aleguei ser um muçulmano naquela época.  Escolhia no que queria acreditar.  Deus me tolerou por um tempo.  Mas eventualmente chegou a hora de pescar ou cortar a linha.  Estava chegando num ponto no qual estava insatisfeito emocionalmente e espiritualmente.  Tinha dinheiro no banco e um carro de US$ 100.000, mulheres à direita e à esquerda – tudo que pudesse querer.  Então ficava sentado e pensando: “Por que estou infeliz?\" Finalmente aquela voz fala com você – não o sussurro (de Satã) – a voz diz: “Bem, basicamente você está infeliz porque é um tolo e não está tentando fazer nada a respeito.”<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Minha teimosa na época não me permitia falar sobre isso.  Você entra naquele estado mental onde pensa: “Eu posso cuidar disso sozinho.”<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Finalmente fiquei humilde o suficiente para falar com Divine e Abdullah sobre isso.  Eles me perguntaram: “Como você se sente? O que pensa disso?” Finalmente sentei e fiz a Shahada novamente.  Daquele ponto em diante me comprometi de fazer o melhor.  Farei o melhor para fazer minhas orações. Comecemos por aqui.  Não vamos nos abater porque saímos na noite passamos e bebemos.  Vamos fazer nossas orações e orar pela força para parar de fazer uma coisa de cada vez.  É com isso que continuo lidando.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Você sabe que uma vez que superamos as grandes coisas, se torna mais sutil.  Pode ser tão sutil quanto olhar para um homem e nem falar mal dele, mas caluniá-lo em sua mente.  As fáceis de superar – bem, não diria fácil – as grandes são fáceis de notar.  É o negócio psicológico sutil que o ajuda a ser quem você realmente é.  Você tem que enfrentar a verdade sobre quem você é.  Se não for capaz de enfrentar a verdade sobre quem você é, você se desintegra, cara.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

As pessoas me questionam e dizem: “Você é muçulmano?” E eu respondo: “Sim, sou muçulmano, mas também sou um pecador profissional.” Estou tentando superar, tentando me aposentar.  Não direi que sou melhor que você.  Apenas acredito que a verdade me foi mostrada, e tenho esperança de que ela me salvará.”<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u6709\u751f\u4ee5\u6765\uff0c\u6211\u7b2c\u4e00\u6b21\u601d\u8003\u8fd9\u4e2a\u95ee\u9898\uff0c\u6211\u8ba4\u8bc6\u5230\u5b83\u5c31\u662f\u4f0a\u65af\u5170\u3002\u5f53\u65f6\u5fb7\u7ef4\u6069\u7684\u4e00\u4f4d\u670b\u53cb\u5728\u8bf5\u8bfb\u89c1\u8bc1\u8bcd\uff08\u5373\u627f\u8ba4\u7a46\u65af\u6797\u7684\u4fe1\u4ef0\uff09\u3002\u6211\u5c31\u5728\u4ed6\u7684\u8eab\u8fb9\uff0c\u5fc3\u60f3\u8fd9\u5c31\u662f\u4f0a\u65af\u5170\u3002\u6211\u542c\u5230\u4ed6\u8fd9\u6837\u8bf4\uff1a“\u6211\u89c1\u8bc1\u4e07\u7269\u4e0d\u63a5\u53d7\u5d07\u62dc\uff0c\u53ea\u6709\u771f\u4e3b\u662f\u63a5\u53d7\u5d07\u62dc\u7684\u4e3b\uff0c\u7a46\u7f55\u9ed8\u5fb7\u662f\u771f\u4e3b\u7684\u4ec6\u4eba\u548c\u4f7f\u8005\u3002”\u6211\u8bb0\u5f97\u5f53\u65f6\u6211\u662f\u8fd9\u6837\u60f3\u7684\uff1a“\u4ed6\u8bf4\u4ec0\u4e48\uff1f\u6211\u662f\u767d\u4eba\u3002\u6211\u80fd\u5728\u8fd9\u513f\u5417\uff1f”“\u4f0a\u65af\u5170\u662f\u7edd\u5bf9\u611a\u6627\u7684\uff0c\u4f60\u77e5\u9053\u5417\uff1f\u8fd9\u91cc\u662f\u7f8e\u56fd\u3002\u5728\u7f8e\u56fd\uff0c\u4f0a\u65af\u5170\u88ab\u770b\u6210‘\u9634\u6697\u7684\u4e1c\u897f\u3002’”\u5f53\u65f6\u6709\u4eba\u5bf9\u6211\u8bf4\uff1a“\u4f60\u53ef\u80fd\u4e0d\u77e5\u9053\u8fd9\u4e00\u60c5\u51b5\uff0c\u5176\u5b9e\u5728\u8fd9\u4e2a\u4e16\u754c\u4e0a\u6709\u5f88\u591a\u5f88\u591a\u767d\u4eba\u7a46\u65af\u6797\u3002”\u6211\u7684\u60f3\u6cd5\u662f\uff1a“\u771f\u7684\uff1f”\u7136\u540e\u6709\u4eba\u6253\u65ad\u4e86\u6b64\u8bdd\u3002\u6211\u8bf4\uff1a“\u771f\u5e26\u52b2\uff0c\u6211\u5c45\u7136\u5bf9\u6b64\u4e00\u65e0\u6240\u77e5\u3002”<\/span><\/p>\r\n
